Cumbrian Bottled Beers
Cumbria now has around 20 microbreweries, including our own local cooperative brewery at Hesket Newmarket, as well as the regional brewer Jennings. We offer here a selection from those breweries which currently bottle their beer.
You will be able to make further purchases from the Farmhouse during your stay, including some specials not shown here, however we request that you place your initial order in advance to guarantee availability.
Beers marked 'BC' are bottle conditioned - this means real ale in a bottle which is unpasteurised and not artificially carbonated. It is a natural live product which contains yeast for a slow secondary fermentation in the bottle. This process provides wonderful fresh flavours and a pleasant, natural effervescence. Bottled conditioned beers need to stand for at least two hours before being gently poured.
